  • Hey, guys. Speaking of New Avengers, I got a chance yesterday to read through the Free NA issue for "Free Comic Book Day" and it was actally kinda good. Which surprised the Hell outta me because Bendis wrote it.

Jose, did you happen to see it and if so, what were your thoughts about it.

  • Haven't read it yet Johnny. I will definitely let you know what I thought after I have.

  • yes dude i wasted so much money on avengers titles and THEY SUCK ive got to say i used a good $200

  • very good point ben i know for me im a cap guy i have every issue and most his TOS issues it didnt matter how good or bad the run was at the time i wanted read about my fav captain america

collecting is part of comics as well it not just like reading your favorite genre of books or tv shows

  • As far as opinions go on what is good or not, the fact of habit and ocd(sequential comic book #s) tend to trump any review. If someone has been buying spider-man their whole life, and nothing else, they'll keep buying it even if it's horrible. Because they either love spider-man to death or they don't want to skip an issue. It's harder for a fan, but lighter on the wallet(or purse), to just buy what is truly appealing in one's eyes, instead of what most agree to be good.

  • MILLARs ULTIMATES is a classic.

As is BENDIS's ULTIMATE SPIDERMAN early run.

    otherwise i agree.

  • So magazines like Wizard and websites like Newsarama are nothing like radio stations? Constantly telling you what's good, what's not and what you should buy. Helping Marvel/DC fuel the hype machine to make the masses rabid for the next level of mediocrity. That could never happen in this industry.

You know how I know if a book sucks before I buy it? If the names Bendis, Loeb or Millar are anywhere on the cover. Easy enough.

    J.

  • ha ha, funny and true.

  • what makes you thing you know better? its not like music or records sales, most people who buy music do so because a radio station plays the same tune over and over and drill it into peoples heads. most comic book fans i know buy the titles by the writers they enjoy. same as any form or reading, you have to buy the thing before you know if its good or not. and if people keep buying the same titles by the same writers..... they must be doing something right.

  • work for hire for todd mcfarlane apparently :p

  • It was Barry Allen. HE'S BACK, HOLMES!!!
