This is not a restoration of a classic garden tractor but a SALVATION! A partial restoration and a damn good cleaning with the hope that this machine will continue on and be saved from the junk yards and garbage pit....
I do hope to use the machine for pulling the Piper Tomahawk from the hanger to the fuel pump and as a ''ride' around the airport. If all works well, decals are next and then maybe restoration in little parts one at a time!
The squealing and 'jumping' was caused by paint on the pulleys and a very old stiff V belt, (the only one I could find at the time) Once the paint wore off and the belt softened up I let off a bit on the clutch adjustment and now she eases in gear and is very smooth when starting to move I think, she will be fine for towing now that she has smoothed out. However, I am working on a front mounted ball hitch for better control when pushing. we will see by testing on someone elses airplane :>)
