I lived two towns away from Joe (Perreira) Perry. He grew up in Hopedale, a town OWNED by a big factory that went bust...he had NO CHOICE but to make good. He was a kid with huge black framed glasses...looked like one of the Hanson Brothers from "Slapshot". I don't blame the guy for being insecure...always in the shadow of the Precocious Kid from NYC, A complicated love affair, just as hairy as any marriage. I'm just grateful Joe was cooking french fries, and Steven got hungry that day!

... on Central Ave. They made a 45 rpm record called "The Sun" in 3/4 waltz timing and I had a copy. Steven lived up on the hill there by the aquaduct and I was in his house twice.

I remember the day when the news broke around the Roosevelt High School area in Yonkers when Steven and Joe agreed to work together. Somebody in Yonkers must have had a phone connection to New Hampshire at the time... It was a big news buzz locally. Steve and Don Solomon from the "Srangeurs" combined with Joe and Tom Hamilton to create the "Chain Reaction" and played several local gigs. I went to three of them including the Westchester County Center, The Parkway Casino and a Jewish Synagog.
