@Kezza4000 The brave white man who collected these was Alan Lomax. His father, John Lomax collected half of what you know about black music.

@richardsull119 The lead singer sounds a lot like Leadbelly, but he died in '49, so guess that's not possible. Thanks for the song.

Can still hear this type of singing these days at a lot of black churches, especially on the Sunday when the old folks choir is singing.
