If I remember well, just two weeks before this recording, Martha with Rostropovich were performing Rachmaninov's 3rd PC at the TCE in Paris for three consecutive days! I was there in all three. After the third performance (Sunday 1st of March 1980 - matinee) French TV made a first attempt to record this Gaspar. Martha began to play (gorgeously) but then stopped and said she was too tired. I was hidden somewhere the theater... (I was young and risking to be arrested... but mmm... that's love!)
