Oh, thank God this is to be found in the original. Don't get me wrong, the reworkings are fine and brought it to a larger audience, but nothing will ever be the same as this.

It makes me so sad to learn that Stefka Sabotinova died in 2010. Her songs on the first Mystère des Voix Bulgares album are among the most beautiful I have ever heard. I still have the original Swiss LP. Kalimankou Denkou with Yanka Rupkina's solo on the same album is still, after so many years, the most beautiful song I know. Bulgarian's women's song has a unique beauty, refinement and raw power.

Best Bulgarian song I have ever hear... Stefka's voice passes throughout our heart... but first she leaves you the best feelings inside

@kostaras2 The mountains were both home and prison for the Bulgarians. In the mountainside Bulgarians have found security. The truth is that the Rhodopes are watered by the Bulgarian's blood. So many Bulgarians to be saved from death, they have become Muslims. These Bulgarians, Turkey is trying to separate from Bulgarians people and call them Pomaks.
The Rhodopes are a land of sorrow.

@Quentyn73 Текстът не е ли: "Проговаря планината..." вместо "Прага отваря..."?

@Vondelene .You are right ,this is an allegorical song .Here the mountain is the Turk and the shepherds are the Bulgarians prisoners or slaves. That's what I've read.
So sad ...so sad...It breaks my heart !!!
