Yes, the Picks sang back up vocals on 9 Holly songs (in TOTAL), and milked that fact for decades after. Their unforgivable offense was to overdub a further 30 or so in the 80's, to horrible effect. Very damaging to the legacy of Buddy Holly's music. Avoid those poorly performed, ham fisted "Picks" versions!

"The Picks" who are heard doing the backup vocal harmonies with Buddy Holly on "Tell Me How" on this web site were inducted into the 2007 New Mexico Music Hall of Fame and Museum on November 10, 2007 at Albuquerque, NM for the work they did for Buddy Holly and The Crickets. "The Picks" are John Pickering, Bob Lapham and the late Bill Pickering. "The Picks" sang on 9 of the 12 songs on "The Chirping Crickets" Brunswick album in 1957 - the only group-sound album released while Buddy was alive
