you're a retard, There isn't a scientific basis for it because it has been systematically suppressed by industry and the government "officials" responsible for ensuring the foods are safe. Just because you don't know about something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Go stick your head back in the sand, you sound like you're on the payroll at Monsanto

GMOs are evil- point blank!!

I EM 26 YEERS OLD AND IS DERE ORGANIC FOOD IN SUPER C ORE IGA EVEN THEN THE DEMAGE IS DONE SUISIDE IS THE BEST SOLUSION FORE ME FUCK
-
@shinokiba I guess you didn't read the studies I posted suggesting organic farming increases yields in poor countries and decreases poverty and hunger? Billions of people are going to starve if we continue doing what we have been doing. The population wont begin to decrease for about 70 years and it wont go from 9 billion to 4 billion overnight. In the 100 years it may take for that to happen there may not be any organic left. 11% of organic farms in the U.S. already have GE contamination.
-
@myndy86 You are saying that we should allow billions of people to starve to death to protect us from starving to death in the future. The population is going to start decreasing in 50 years, how about we wait on organic farming until we slowly get back to 4 billion people.
-
@shinokiba GE crops weren't grown commercially in 1976. It is predicted that if we continue using the "new farming methods"(Green Revolution), millions or even billions more people will starve to death than we have now, due to decreased food production in Africa and Asia caused by those same "new farming methods". Green Revolution was short lived and it caused numerous problems(UN report Save and Grow). Organic or near-organic farming increases overall yields, without most of those problems.
-
@myndy86 What is that based on? Do you know that we are growing twice as much food as we did in 1976 with the same amount of land. This is thanks because of GMOs and new farming methods.
-
@shinokiba More than 4 billion people lived on earth, before the first GE crop was ever created. In fact, UN report, International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology Development by 400 scientists, concluded that GE crops have very little potential to alleviate poverty and hunger and can potentially increase hunger and poverty in poor countries, where most hunger and poverty occur. Several UN reports suggest organic can decrease hunger and poverty in poor countries.

@shinokiba "Organic farming can yield up to three times as much food as conventional farming on the same amount of land.""in developed countries, yields were almost equal on organic and conventional farms. In developing countries, food production could double or triple using organic methods"" sciencedaily"dot"com/releases/

@shinokiba "Organic farming can lead to increased food production – in many cases a doubling of yields has been seen""the average crop yield increase was even higher for these projects: 116 per cent increase for all African projects and 128 per cent increase for the projects in East Africa" unctad.org/en/docs/ditcted2007

@shinokiba "Today's scientific evidence demonstrates that agroecological methods outperform the use of chemical fertilizers in boosting food production where the hungry live- especially in unfavorable environments.""To date agroecological projects have shown an average crop yield increase of 80% in 57 developing countries, with an average increase of 116% for all African projects." srfood.org/index.php/en/compon

@academianon - then why are GMO foods and crops banned in Europe?
* * * * * * *
Europe has a totally different food supply chain. Folks buy food fresh and cook it.
There is no frozen food, most homes have a dorm-sized fridge. The buy food every day and very seldom have more than a couple days worth of food on hand.
There is no place for GMOs there.
Here in the US, folks want food that can be stored indefinatly and prepared in minutes with little effort.

@CouldNotCareLes Careful, GMO foods are not uniformly prohibited across the EU, but you're correct.. they are seriously limited. This is fantastic in my opinion. i'm not sure why some people are concluding that I'm pro-GM. This video is anti-GM and I am adamantly opposed the genetic modification of our food supply. Sorry for any confusion. :)
