A feature-length documentary now available on DVD @ http://albionproductions.net/theguide.aspx

This is the story of the New Kadampa Tradition and of the people who have helped to make it one of the world's fastest growing Buddhist communities. The Guide was produced between 1996 and 2000 and has now been digitally remastered to preserve its status as a significant historical document. It is a remarkable portrait of the revered spiritual leader, Geshe Kelsang, and his followers, rich in the beauty and color that surrounds the Kadampa rituals and environment. At 83 minutes, it is a feature-length production that covers two continents and many aspects of Buddhist life: * The story of Conishead Priory and its transformation into Manjushri Centre. * The daily lives of two ordained Buddhists, Yeshe and Legden. * Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche speaking on-camera about his early life, how he came to the West and the basis of his philosophy. * The central concepts of Buddhism explained. * The views of many ordinary people about the work of Geshe Kelsang and the NKT, and how it has touched them personally. * The creation of exquisite paintings and statues. * The design and construction of the West's first Gompa (Buddhist temple). * The visit of Geshe Kelsang to Seattle. * The intimate story of how one person's life was deeply affected by Geshe Kelsang.

  • Actually I do know part of the reason;half of these people found my video clip through other NKT related websites or through my reccomendation in person.

Since they are not regular youtube users, they sign up express their gratitude and then leave.

Seems not very odd to me.

  • As a Buddhist,we do support those fighting for freedom of practice.

The different with this is that this 'directly' targets those of us who practice.

I myself am not so skilled debate just yet but if you wish to continue i could recommend a few sangha who are well-versed in this.

Look past the politics of it all.

We are practicing what our teachers gave us..including those who taught HHDL.

We are being the voice for the oppressed in india..it's unfortunate it's HHDL we have to voice out from.

  • He has stated (on video) that we are spirit worshippers..now I do not believe this is fair..also it's inhumane to stand back when someone is being treated unjustly..especially when it's under the same deity as yourself.

Please..watch his video on shugden on youtube from his teaching..he says we are not buddhist...this is not fair..also we are standing up for those that cannot speak up.

  • indeed NKT is apart of it..but they are not the only ones involved..i myself am happy to stand up for my rights to practice.

  • It is pointless to become a Monk if you have doubts. You have to know in you heart if the Monistic life will serve you well. There are those who join the sangha and hope......you can't rely on hope....

    hope will eventually become tired.....

you can only succeed when your heart is ready....then join the sangha:)

  • Buddhism is a life saving religion, but to commit to the Sangha is hard and there are some monks who just cannot do it. Any sexual relations must result in immediate expulsion from the monastic order.

Take the Dharma into your heart. Resist all temptation.

  • @JihadicMartyre is it true that the monks and nuns in NKT are not fully ordained? how does this work? GKG has cut off ties with other lineage masters and monasteries. in tibetan buddhism, gurus is pivotal..thus lineage masters is central for us to receive blessings..

  • Five years since leaving the cult, and I still haven't been able to put together a modicum of daily practice. I know the NKT does not have ownership over the Dharma, but I find it a lot harder to practice without the support. I find it a lot harder to practice without the benefit of receiving teachings. There is nothing in my area for meditation centers OTHER THAN THE FREAKIN' NKT! They're everywhere, in disguise. All the websites of their local centers are like "meditationin______ dot orrg."

  • Lol

    Thumbs-up Fail.

  • Most NKT videos block comments? why?

  • I've been to those Festivals, very relaxing and laid back in comparison to Zen Buddhism. You are very fortunate to have Geshler as your Guru though I hear he has retired now. At least you don't get whacked with a stick and have to eat in a very disciplined way.

  • I just think it's odd. I didn't say it meant anything.

You seemed not to understand what GTF4EVER was trying to say when they said "everybody is closed..."

It is something I've certainly never seen before, but I don't know WHAT it means. I know NKT is controversial, but other than that, I don't know a whole lot about it.
