http://live.pirillo.com - John Perez is a college Freshman who is doing an argumentative paper on Open-Source applications. He sent me a list of ten questions that I am going to answer in simple terms. Also, we're using our GoToMeeting to allow you to follow along with everyone as they use Open-Source applications.

  • if u want to see good video regarding open source and free watch osgui, sneeky linux and this week in linux on youtube. i have lubuntu and soon to have peppermint on my durabook pentium m

  • cause we got too many distributions .. too many projects to do the same things making open source to be almost always behind proprietary paid solutions. Microsoft , Apple and other jusfocus into a programme and quickly builds it, upgrades it and creates new ideas .. while open source keeps this feeling "it will be better one day".

Well I just wrote while I was thinking so ... sorry for my english

  • I think that open source won't really take off till we find real commercial published text in internet showing all the ways companies can make money from it and how to protect its interests .. cause we need the companies to accelerate open source and also we need to show users real interests to change to open source. We need to show the why is it better.

I also would like to say that the strenght of open source is also its weakness sometimes ..

  • @yungceezy10 how about OS? if not, Ubuntu is pretty user friendly, so is Linux MINT and even Fedora (to an extent, you need to know a little bit of the terminal for that one)

  • From economics point of view, open source is good because it allows for positive externalities that are impossible with closed software.

  • @isacfwp I can see how Internet Explorer is superior to all the open source web browsers..

    /sarcasm

  • open source FTW!!!

  • I love the way you explain. Great job. Keep on your great work.

  • Almost all Open Source sucks, it's mostly good for servers and people who can't afford great tools like Photoshop Elements or CS4 and are forced to use inferior products like Gimp...sigh
