Mastercard NZ "All Blacks"

McCanns Sydney approached us to make music to complement what was a brilliant idea. It seemed an inspired way to galvanise the hearts of New Zealanders, and we felt truly challenged. The core purpose was to raise awareness of Mastercard's sponsorship of the iconic Rugby Union team, but it was clear that given the strong place the All Blacks had in the national psyche, that the idea demanded a very striking piece of music. We came up with many solutions.
Fortunately, to us, one direction was clearly the most powerful. And this is that idea realised... The music sings the words to the NZ national anthem - first in Maori, then in English to a new theme, playing a strong emotional tangent to the surreal visuals, directed to perfection by legendary producer Bruce Hunt.
