Nicolas Hauzeur is the driving force behind Zongora, a multidimensional project created through a myriad of musical and human encounters. He joined forces early on with Benjamin Clément, a kindred spirit with whom the group has developed its own style. This is not far from jazz, both in terms of the musicians' technical skills and affinity for improvisation. They have had to work around the hectic schedules of the group's in-demand musicians, who are kept particularly busy by the little-known, but lively and unique world, of Bulgarian Roma weddings. The group revisits so-called "eastern" music and reveals some of its less well-known aspects. The repertoire is both gadjo and Roma, east and west, lyrical and rhythmical. Zongora's philosophy of music and life is based on making the most of chance encounters. Even if they don't all speak the same language, their ears and minds are open.
