  • nice knife bad sheath

  • I'm tempted 2 buy 1 of those now...

  • And with the thickness being a 1/8", the Woodman's Pal is going to have a hell of a time trying to get through thicker wood while batoning. A thicker (1/4"+) is needed so that the blade doesn't bite and stick.

  • The only reason your Woodman's Pal didn't get in the way of batoning was because you were batoning a 1.5" stick...

Try splitting a 6"+ thick log with that. A kukri or an SP8 would do much better than the Woodman's Pal could.

  • you just helped dispell a fear of mine. i heard somewhere that the blade is chisel ground, which isn't my prefered grind. now i really want one

    .

  • I got me one of these for my birthday. I love everything about save one thing: The safety feature is a major compromise of cutting ability for a bit of safety that, IMO, shouldn't be a concern for someone used to handling a large blade anyways.

So I fixed the 'safety feature' with a large grinding wheel, and as I predicted the blade's cutting ability increased dramatically. NOW my woodman's pal is the perfect survival blade :D

The inner pouch is also a great place for a ferro rod.

  • Hey Bushman, I have every model for under $80 bucks. Google Tested Best Products and look under Machetes. l Hope this helps.

  • Great Job been wanting one of these since before I enlisted into the Marine Corps, I'm glad you showed practical uses of this tool, also if you could make a demonstration video with practical martial art uses of this tool as a "basic defense" video I'd highly appreciate it! Great Vid thumbs up!

  • Nice vid. I've had my WP for over 30 years now. It's too heavy for me to take on long hikes, but it's seen work in my woods and on low distance hikes each year of it's life. I love the design. I've heard lots of negative too, but I think people don't really understand how to apply the rather unique blade - you showed it. Mine has never been treated well, it's had a rough life and still solid. Mine has a metal sheath, not pretty but works. I don't like the models without the knuckle guard.

  • Nicely done. Have a blessed week, my friend. John
