De Blob is an amazing project by students at the Utrecht School of the Arts and Utrecht University. The game was developed by a team of 9 in just four months, with everyone working minimal hours alongside other obligations. The output is tremendous. Joost van Dongen, the lead programmer, describes the game as:

It is a 3D game in which the player controls a ball of paint rolling through the city. The ball can absorb coloured NPC's to become larger and change its colour. With the paint, the player can then proceed to paint the entire city. Almost everything is paintable: buildings, trees, cars and using the paint trace even the ground. The main goal of the game is to paint all 17 landmark buildings. Hardcore fanatics can also try to collect all 50 coins that are hidden around the level.

Terrific game, and soon to be released on the Nintendo Wii this month.

  • interesting... i had to search for minutes to find out that a) this game is available on PC and b) even for free!

nothing about it on the wikipedia-site of the game...

  • Lol. I, along with something like 24% of the male population are red/green colorblind. That makes it useless crap to us, and means folks like me won't bother even trying it. Way to cut into the possible profits there guys.

  • ZOMG they got sponsored and it's on xbox 360 and shit FTW (old but who cares it's deBlob!!!)

  • pc is better cos you get to freeroam without having to unlock it

  • @MultiDragon55 yes with emulation

  • The PC and Wii versions are so different from each other! But without this Tech demo, THQ and Blue Tongue wouldn't have the inspiration to make De Blob for the Wii! And after 2 whole years since the Wii version came out, we're finally getting a sequel in 2011! Sweet!

  • @StrawberryGuy86

the reason the wii version is better is because the original is made by 8 students in 4 months and the wii version is made by THQ and BlueTongue in like a year and they even already had the concept.

  • @khainguyen98 My and my Katamari came out in 2005. De Blob came out in 2006

  • @IntensoPictures im not sure but i thing this came out first

  • Bad remake of Me and my Katamari
