"My Girl Friend Smokes (And I Don't)" - TsaiShing 齊成 (LIVE 880823)

THE Joe Chow "Classic", from our first album "Fried Rice"... definitely my favourite of his. I believe this was the only time Joe performed the song "live".
Story behind the song? This was 1985, even though I was a smoker, I hate seeing women smoke, so I asked Joe, who's a non-smoker, to write something to that effect and he came back with this amazing number.
Btw some HK band later on heard our song and wrote a Cantopop tune on the same subject and took the credit for coming up with the idea!!
This song was also covered by a Singaporean "Punk" Band and although I only heard it once, I thought it sounded great as ours was completely electronic... but unfortunately got banned by the Singaporean Government all due to the word... "Smokes"! Maybe they should have made it into an "anti-smoking" anthem instead had they read the title in its entirety!
