The French then divided Vietnam into 3 parts with 3 names: Tonkin (North Vietnam which had Hanoi as the capital (also the capital of the whole Frech Indochina)); to the centre and the south, they divided into 2 small part: Annam (Central Vietnam which had Hue as the capital) and use the name Cochinchine for their beloved territory South Vietnam which had Saigon as the capital.

Now Google a word like Kochi (India) to know about a place that used to have the same name with a part of Vietnam.

When the French colonists came to Vietnam and dominated Vietnam, they changed Cauchi China to Cochinchine (French word). If u want, browse a big university in France for historical books about Vietnam to know about this fact. It's not because "Cauchi China" has the word "'China" that you can say Cauchi China is China's territory. Seriously wrong. So how about Indochina (Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia)? Do these countries belong to India (Indo-) and China (-china). OK?

Thanks for the link. However, at my first look in that topic, your statement seems to be seriously wrong. Look at this: "The coast belonged to the Kingdom of Cauchi China". I assume this quotation is "counterproductive" to you! Do you study deeply in Vietnamese history? This is the answer: Cauchi China means "Central Vietnam". The Malaya called central Vietnam "Kuchi", then the Portuguese pronounced it "Cauchi" because there was a place with the same name "Kuchi" in India.

@cuahangbachhoa15 North Vietnam won the civil war against South Vietnam. Therefore, the diplomatic document signed by Vietnam Premier Pham Van Dong on September 14, 1958, which ceded Paracel and Spratly Islands to China, is in effect and legally binding.

Sorry, could you please show us the official document mentioned here to prove that Pham Van Dong signed away all of Vietnamese legal rights to Paracels and Spratlys? Or Pham Van Dong just supported Chinese declaration of 12-nautical miles territory? Please show us the real document, not the fake one from Chinese state media. Actually, we cannot know whether it's real or fake. :->
