  • @rocaza21: armchair cynics who haven't built anything since that collage in grade 4. So "more electronics"? Unless you know how to build your own circuit boards (which I do not, yet) - buying pre-made arduinos and cervo setups costs hundreds of dollars all by itself. And no, I did not feel like tackying up the suit by adding a bunch of blinking dollar store LEDs. But thanks for your comment.

  • @rocaza21: board, but I wanted something that was tough. I walked in it for four hours, hauled it in and out of a pickup truck, and got mauled by drunks for photo ops, without a scratch or dent. If you can build MY robot for less than $500 in materials and tools (without some kind of special access, ie. you own a scrapyard) I WILL GIVE YOU MINE. I built this with no workshop, and virtually no tools to start. There are too many

  • @rocaza21: sheets I needed to paint it were $30, and the ventilator mask I had to wear to protect my health was $50. The various plastic bins I needed to use for their specific curves (from walmart) were another $90. The old snowboard bindings that are built into the feet were $35. The PVC and connectors from Home Depot are very expensive and were at least $100. High quality hinges for the joints don't come cheap either. I could have cut corners and made the whole thing out of duct tape and card

  • @rocaza21: I'd be very impressed if you could, but it sounds like you've probably never built anything before and handled the materials expenses. One box of rivets costs around $6 - I went through twenty. I had to buy a rivet gun. I burned out countless drillbits. Sheets of PVC (which I bought wholesale) were $80 apiece. I needed two. The aluminum I used, all of which was repurposed from a scrapyard, totaled ~ $150. Good spraypaint is at least $6 per can, high quality primer is more. The drop
