To all you schoolboys out there, you see the way they aren't thumping the oar into their chests every stroke just to hear the cool thumping sound. That is wasted energy, and it is better to get the oar out of the water that 5cm's early than waste the energy on that 5cm's thumping it into your chest, which is at your weakest part of the stroke anyway,,,,, Pro Tip.
