@theproplady Well I plan on making the gem translucent like glass but a blood red colour. gonna have the light stick straight up through the middle to make it glow. Hopefully that can work then :)

How would you make ball resin jewels? Is it possible to glue two halves together or are there molds for that? Also, if there are, will there be seams? And how do you sand down seams without scratching the gem?

@cetchance51 I have used everything from nailpolish to paint, even some crushed eyeshadow, just dont add to much!! just mix a little drop at a time into the resin, if you mix to much your resin wont dry enough and it will become sticky. It's just trial and error, practice makes purfect.

I know of artists who have lost their lives (COPD) due to working with resin & not protecting their lungs with a NIOSH mask specifically marked for VAPOR protection (not particulates). Please use these items, along with your Gloves & Eye Goggles & protect yourself, even outside. I did a pour two nights ago with Easy Cast (<3) & even though I was wearing these things my eyes were burning and lungs hurt the next day. Just want people to know how important it is. Cast on, fellow resin-lovers!! <3
Is it possible to make a full (and even) rhombus prism sorta shape with this? I know the moulds are for shapes with flat backs, but could they be stuck together? I'm trying to make one of that shape and then possibly drill a little space in the middle before putting the two halves together to put a little light in.
PS: Is it REALLY that dangerous? I'm going to use goggles, gloves, a mask and do it outside and be really careful, but the idea that it can still be harmful kinda scares me.

@N3RDYG0GGLES You could try sticking them together, but the glue will show if the resin is clear. If you want to stick a light into a resin surface, you can drill a hole, although a better solution would be to take a small cylinder or length of thin PVC pipe, plug it with something, then wrap it with mailing tape. Then suspend it over your mold so that it sticks in the resin, but doesn't touch the front of the gem. Once the resin hardens, you can remove the cylinder and leave a small clea

@theproplady -clear cavity in the resin. (Sorry-I ran out of space there.)

can you use food coloring or do you need to buy a specific dye?

You have to buy resin specific dyes, which you can find at some craft stores along with the resins themselves.

I just have one quick question: Is there any chance of the shortening my lifespan? There is an item I want to make, and this seems like the perfect way to do it, but if it means my life will be shortened, it's not worth it. I take it I should wear a mask while doing this, and should I set up some fans (I'll be doing this outside) too? Thanks!

I thought I put a safety disclaimer on this video. (I really need to remake these since I discovered EasyCast epoxy resin. I hardly ever use polyester resin now.) And yes, you should probably do this outside.
