  • I want to go back to the 60's, there was so much innovation, creativity and optimism!

I'm bored to death with this souless, plastic, celebrity-driven gloop of a society, I don't care if you call it nostalgia, put me in a time machine now!

  • to everyone who complains about "poorly done" videos

"yer gettin' what ya paid for"

  • Maybe they did it with a few, but if it was "usual procedure" I'm wondering why 90 % of the TOTP performances sounded EXACTLY like the record. And I'm also wondering: If you look at the original version of Manfred Mann's performance at TOTP with My Name is Jack, only Mike d'Abo's vocal is different from the record. If they first should re-record it, why didn't they record the back vocals and instruments then? And the vocal was not perfect, which playback performances are.

  • @HateIronMaiden - no, you are totally wrong. TOTP performances *didn't* sound just like the record! We've just had Boney M doing 'Daddy Cool' on the 1977 TOTP that's showing now on BBC4, and it doesn't have that honking sax. Why? Coz it was re-recorded in the TOTP studio and the sax player was a sessionman who was somewhere else when they were doing the TV!

Come on you silly fool, wake up..

  • @misterteaification No, this is not true. It was never like that them that played at TOTP recorded new versons of the songs to mime to them! The original version of this performance have other vocals (the owner of this video dubbed the studio version over the original video that had live vocl. If the artists on TOTP recorded new versions before every show, why did nearly all the performances sounded just like the record? You're a Maiden/Bieber fan trying to defend your bands.

  • @HateIronMaiden - unlikely. The usual TOTP procedure was to re-record a new version of the song in the TV studio, and mime to that at the recording. If doing that was too fiddly, they would record a new vocal only and then mime to that plus the backing track from the record. But almost never did the studio audience or the TV audience hear live vocals. Sorry!

  • @TubeNumber1USA Thank you!

You feel sorry for kids today, you say. I am actually quite young (13, listened to this since i was... 10 i think), and also like good artists like Pink Floyd (since 2007), Queen (since 2008) and Smokie (since 2009). I have a great taste of music I think, and see all others at my age that love metal and rap, as idiots.

  • @weing You are right.

He have dubbed the record verson over the original audio there, and he have failed TOTALLY!

At the original video, the singing was actually live.

  • 02:28 I was trying to think who the drummer reminded me of in that shot then realised it was Marty Feldman.

  • I would happily pay to listen to a day of 60s music on radio 1 instead of the total garbage excuse for music served up today

  • 15 wayward boys and girls disliked this song.

  • I was a freshman in high school when this came out, and I have loved it every day since!
