says who?? using falsetto has been common practice for tenors, maybe of all time, and always will be, is my guess, so what? and btw... the line between falsetto and voix mixte is very very thin. it's not all black and white, ya know.
and apart from this, the way carreras and domingo applied their 'falsetto' is a technique by itself, which they master very well, so the only problem here, i would guess, is 'do you like it or not?' just a matter of taste, i'd say!
