A great exercise that will make your 'normal stance' help to stay rooted with this moving-punching ma bu horse stance. This is exercise used in wing chun's Luk Dim Boon Quan, long pole, training. So, I am preparing to start long pole training and doing a few sets of these every day will benefit. I go for 50 punches per set, working up to 100 punches per set.

Note, I move the Forward foot first with the same punch

  • Jin Choi training is an amazing boost to your workout. These are pretty decent, what I can suggest though, maybe it's not taught the same within your wing chun, is to add more rotational power in the hips. My understanding is that a large component to the battle punches is rotation of the upper body with each punch, adding power and torque to the strikes. It's a missing idea to many WC people, not that you are missing that, just saying that it helps make this drilli that much more useful.

  • I like your stance keep up the good work

  • Very good, low stance. This is a gruelling exercise and prepares for the pole also.
