I used to think 97 was their best year. I clearly underestimated 93.

Usually after a couple verse-chorus's, a solid foundation of rhythm and structure is established which is then stretched and expanded by the various complex extensions, inspections, and dissections of the song components. This clears a path navigating through the sonic labyrinth which then ushers the participants into the void which is the insanely powerful crashing of the waves of energy released from this musical meeting of chaos and order.

i was there. if you were do you remember the balcony like a private show!!! for some reason these we're the reserved seats and nobody went up except a bunch of us that actually did that tour who all shared one ticket, dropping it down again and again.....one of the best nights that summer, and it was in a mall!!!

God, '93 was a good year for Phish. Maybe I'll catch some flack for this but when Phish put on an outstanding show, it's because Fishman was on that night. When he plays lights out inspired, the rest of the band follows suit. It's been said that the difference between a good band and a great band is the drummer. This Runaway Jim is an example of how dynamic, intuitive and creative Fishman can be.
