NUMMI The Last Day 2nd shift

The last production day second shift March 31, 2010. 1st. shift closed the plant the following day in the morning of April 1 around 9:40 a.m. The last auto plant in the west coast is dead.

Sad for all you workers. One sawmill I worked at paid us higher than union wage to keep the unions out. Thankful I went back to school to become a licenced auto technician, and a certified welder. That decision ended up with  me owning and operating my own auto repair, and custom car restoration facility. Education is King everyone.

@nauoicelotl Your sadly mistaken. I will partly agree with you when it comes to union members in government jobs. But union power, influence and membership has been falling steadily for awhile now. Unemployment comes from increased efficiency in how business operates and competition from emerging markets. The unions have been dying slowly for decades.....your fear is misplaced. We are basically in an economic war with emerging markets (mostly china).
