The men who stormed the beaches were under fire, and death was all around them, yet they pressed on, despite blood and guts and broken bodies everywhere, THEY pressed on, that show's the true heroic stature of an american soldier.

The Marines were involved taking the Channel Island's the only part of Britain proper to be occupied during WW2. Also Ike and Bradley along with Patton didn't want the Marines involved in any landings after the glory they recived beeting the germans during ww1. At the detriment of the Army publicity

i heard before the gates on the higgins boats got barely half way down most of the men were killed

This is a realy good video, also sad.
This will be the day that we'll always remember. A day that made the United States, ever so glorious. A day in which will inspire the american dream and a memorial past, of the United States Armed Forces.
Thank you, American Veterans for fighting for our freedom as one nation.

Fortunately or unfortunately, there were not any major Marine units involved in the Normandy Invasion landings. The US Army had conducted more amphibious operations than the USMC throughout our history, and the reason is because the Army is bigger and is and has been our major ground combat force. The Army Americal Infantry Div. took the most heavily defended Japanese position on Guadacanal. Good luck in the USMC, and keep an open mind about you.
