It wouldn't kill anyone. In order to get the load out at any speed, the wad must still be in place behind the shot. In your example, the powder explodes through the shot and the pressure is vented through the projectiles. That is also why it didn't explode in your hand.

got a 12 gauge insert for the flare gun but now it wont lock the barrel down tight nor does it let me fire. The insert i have is circular all the way around on the trigger side with no grooves. Yours looks like it has grooves on it. Ah, i found a flaw in your idea. 1) the barrel doesnt lock down tight. 2) if you slam it shut like you did in the video you can't cock the hammer back nor pull the trigger, thus the gun is rendered useless. This is occuring without the modified shell in the insert
