This video gives you a chance to test some cool gear!
Six distortion and overdrive guitar pedal stomp boxes for you to try out:

Boss Distortion DS-1
Boss Overdrive SD-1
Boss '59 Fender Bassman FBM-1
Vox Satchurator
Way Huge Fat Sandwich
Suhr Riot

Watch the whole video and simply follow the instruction.

For these tests I played with my Fender American Standard going into the corresponding pedal using a clean sound with my Digitesign Eleven Rack.

Enjoy!

  • do you think that because as you are going through a eleven rack , it's altering the sound and that it could sound completely different on another preamp?

  • @gaud2029 The pedal would sound different regardless of the amp, yeah. :-)

  • Hey Man, What amp are you running through? cause ive had my satchurator now for about 2 years since it came out, and cant get a decent sound through the clean channel on my line 6 150 watt, i tried changing the settings on the amp and on the pedal till i got a nice tone but when i crank it up on gigs it dont sound good.

  • @joesatriani1200rulez For this demo I'm actually going through an Eleven Rack...

  • Playing satch on something different than Ibanez is blasphemy ;)

  • @Bananu7 Haha! :-)

  • 0:56 sounds like always with me always with you

  • Wish I had the skills u have

  • @beanerthemanful I will not start a flame war here, which this discussion would certainly evolve into. If they suit you better - that's all right with me. I just pointed out that Joe Satriani has always been using Ibanez guitars, and it has nothing to do with one brand being better than the other.

  • @Bananu7 fender>ibanez facts

  • @joesatriani1200rulez Until I got my Jet City Amp, what I did for solid state was pick a dirty channel and put the gain all the way down, then used the gain at about 4 o clock and the tone rolled off on the pedal. Best of luck!

  • @hueseph yeah we eq it, we use a SM57, not to sure bout to anything else about the name of the equipment cause im only on 1 single channel on a 24 track mixer, okay cool i'll check it out :P

  • @joesatriani1200rulez What goes on at the mixer? Do you eq it? What mic? I prefer a Sennheiser 421 over an SM57. On or off axis? I would try with and without eq. 400-500Hz for body 2k for bite. The Blues Jr. is a great amp.

  • @hueseph well i do go through a PA, i go through EV speakers but the amp is mic'd up through the mixer then goin out through the speakers, but i take all the effects of, set a clean channel and play around with the tone controls to try and get a natural clean sound and then add the pedal, i do keep the amp down lowish and turn it up on the mixer without pushing it up to far cause all the other levels are set for the others in the band, but still sounds shit, any good amps youd advise?
