The Pop influences that inspired Ennio Morricone's 'Spaghetti' Western guitar sound!

Another Joe Meek group, famous already from the classic "Telstar", take a ride across the plains in this rollicking instrumental, blown through with Meek's innovative electronic wind sounds.

  • George Bellamy was rhythm guitar Alan Caddy was lead guitar, this is actually the US version, the UK version of this track taken originally from The Sound Of The Tornados E.P. did not have the special effects at beginning.

Missed opportunity should have been a single!

  • Thanks for helping set the record straight!

  • Very good recording! most of their other songs are really choppy and hard on the ears after 40 years of poor maintenance.

I'm happy to hear good music like this...and yes, I only found myself here because I looked up muse on wikipedia xD

  • The death knell of the rock instrumental was probably sounded with the advent of MTV and similar shows. Prior to that, we listened to the radio for our music with backup from TV shows like Top Of The Pops. Sadly the reverse is now true. Visuals are what counts, especially if they sell sex. Where are teens going to hear the range of instrumentals we heard these days, apart from in their parents' vinyl collections if they have them? Sad.

  • @mess083 this one definitely has some input into it from :16 to like :48, sounds just like the first part of Knights of Cydonia :D but telstar did become it, yes.

  • @MrSky47 telstar was knights of cydonia, not this song. but this one is awsome too

  • @Hotchilipepprz4 telstar was the song that became knights of cydonia

  • amazing that 40 years later this became knights of cydonia

  • The first time I've heard this tune was on Parrot Records, an american label. I made a tape recording but I've lost it. Thanks for this upload.

  • There's a new version of TELSTAR out too... TELSTAR by THE DUELLING PIANOS.

  • I honestly enjoy George's work better than Matt. Matt is great and all...but I wish there was more of The Tornadoes with George in it. Shame...man's so damn talented.

  • THE BEST RECORDING FROM THE TORNADOS ,LOST MY EP WITH THE UK VERSION ,SO THANKYOU MORRINCONEROCKS AND YOU TUBE
