Here's a little test on the waterproofing of a used converted bic, I got the idea from bushcraftonfire's lighter striker video a while back. Mine is a little bit different. It consists of a gutted bic, except for the wheel, flint, and spring. Added is a bit of dryer lint to start a fire quickly, and a three and a half inch (3.5in) piece of duct tape split length wise.

  • @DemonHide Absolutely. Why throw away a perfectly good emergency fire starter? Took about 10 min in total, super quick

  • @iCwalzy Thanks for watching!

  • Way cool, tossed you a sub btw.

  • Not a bad idea at all! Gotta try then when mine runs out.

  • @80spodcastchannel I don't think adding oil to the lint would make it harder to waterproof at all, its great idea. As far as using a film canister, you'd get to use much more material, but loose the compactness of a single item ...... thanks for watching

  • harder to water proof if you do this..butttttt...

add some vaseline to the dryer lint..or some baby oil. or mineral oil(Same stuff..just no baby oil smell) then you can fluff it up and it'll burn a LOOONNnnng time.

or DO the lighter as you did and then get a film canister and back up the tricked lighter with the oiled/vaselined fluff..you fire wont have a chance BUT to ignite.

    seeya bro, cool video/concept..

    Dude
