Bonnie Simon, Stephen Simon (conductor), and Mark Miller (clarinet soloist) discuss the upcoming Simon Sinfonietta concert, Saturday, March 31, 2012. Miller plays excerpts from Carl Maria von Weber's Concertina for Clarinet and Orchestra in E flat Major. Also on the program are Ellen Taaffe Zwilich's Concerto Grosso 1986, William Boyce's Symphony No. 5, and Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 104. The Concerto Grosso was commissioned by Simon in honor of George Frideric Handel's 300's birthday. It builds on a theme from Handel's Violin Concerto in D, the first movement of which will be performed as well. Concertmaster Charles Sherba will play violin.
