Receive and manage upstream design changes from Autodesk Revit Architecture software with the new FBX File Link. This intelligent handling of data helps reduce rework of visualizations in 3ds Max Design when original designs are revised and refined, supporting nonlinear decision making processes and facilitating collaborative, iterative workflows. Designers can also take advantage of new import options to group incoming materials, helping to optimize and simplify management of complex data sets. Does anyone know why my models are black and the image is diformed when I import them from AutoCad to 3ds 2011? I didn´t have this problem with 3ds 2010. Thanks in advance!

once imported into 3dsMD2011 I now get dozens - over a hundred on some projects - objects listed under the error message
'Warning:Nested Mesh'
The description is,
'The plug-in has detected edges that are shared by two or more faces in the same direction.
the following nodes are affected:'
.... long list of objects
Would anyone know what this is about?
I've not seen this in 3dsMD2010 imports

Why are the units different when the file is imported into 3DS max, instead of 172 meters, it becomes 300+

How did you get this to import? I have tried the exact steps you did in both Max and Revit 2011. In Max, it starts to interpret the fbx, but at the end, there is no geometry on the screen. The layers are not there either. I am using the latest fbx version: 2011.3.1 of the plug-in. Any suggestions

Seriously, Why should we be bothered about setting up the Render appearance of a material in Revit. Earlier option of Objects base on Material names was definitely better.
Autodesk definitely need to address this.

There is serious problem when importing FBX file in 3D Max. Material names are created from Revit's rendering appearance material names, and not the unique names that you give to each material. That causes great mess when for example all your materials are basing on the same render appearance material. In fact then this link function is inusable :(

@thomastun Damn...that FX4800 is hella expensive. I'm looking for medium range so I can train on my student version of Max and Revit. Thanks for the insight...
