Seesmic Squeezed: How one company responds to changes in Twitter's ecosystem

Seesmic is, tomorrow, shipping a new platform that will let developers build new kinds of microblogging client functionality. Loic Le Meur, founder and CEO, and Marco Kaiser, platform creator, show us the new platform, which is interesting enough on its own, but the subtext of the past week makes the shift in Seesmic's strategy even more interesting.

See, last Friday Twitter announced that it was doing its own client for Blackberry and was buying iPhone app developer Tweetie. What that means is that Twitter now is competing with the client developers, like Seesmic, and that changes the Twitter ecosystem dramatically.

In the second part of this interview Loic talks about what the changes at Twitter mean for him and Seesmic. It shows a company, and an industry, under pressure now from a new place: Twitter itself. Loic talks about how he and his company are handling that pressure, plus what he expects to see tomorrow at Twitter's Chirp conference.

Robert, use this as a teaching theme - why is this video so delayed and jerky and why (technically) will it begin to improve over the duration?

@skypedog5 When you upload an HD video to YouTube, it puts up a low-quality version first then over the next few hours it keeps "building" the other higher resolution versions. It looks like this one is now done. It's smooth, high quality, and not jerky on my machine.
