Life in a Day submission (see YouTube user lifeinaday).
A personal look into my favorite hobby: flying radio-controlled model airplanes. Featuring my oldest original Balsa USA "Swizzle Stick" model aircraft.

UPDATE:
I created this before I discovered a video from the Life in a Day editor, telling everyone not to edit their footage. This, just two days before shooting, but I didn't discover it until a day after I completed my piece. But that's OK - I have submitted all my raw footage, and now I have this nice little piece of my own as a souvenir.

  • Hey! I've got a stick 40 as well.. and that was a GREAT video! Well produced. I'm just starting to get into videography and I have gleaned some ideas for future videos thanks to yours. :) Excellent!

  • @jeremypayant Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Are you going to capture your Stick 40 on video? That's my favorite airplane - I have four of them. :) My oldest (the one in this video) will be 30 years old next year, so I'm thinking of putting together a tribute video with the footage I have capture of them over the years.

  • My first plane was a swizzle stick. it was a 1981 vintage. Had a K&B 40 on the nose. Great training bird. Went from there to a falcon 56.

  • @piperdriver83 Interesting - I had a Falcon 56 once, too, but it was partially built and I never finished it. I gave it to a friend who finished it and flew it. I'll have to ask him whatever became of that airplane - I always wanted to fly it.

  • Man I just got a Swizzle Stick and it was built around 1990 and it is a beautiful flying plane

  • @TheHellcat60 :) I have four of them. Two original "Swizzle Sticks" and two Stick 40's (the tail is different). And then I have a Stick 30, which, to me, is a very nice size model. Easy to transport, and seems even more sturdy than the 40 size. Lots of fun! Glad to hear someone else out there is enjoying one.

  • Enjoyed watching and listening to your story.....thanks!

  • @OrionXIII Awesome! I'm there. I've been wanting to transfer my tapes to disk forever, but I'm afraid they may be all bad by now. I do have the Hobby Hut closing scene without the credits, and a number of the music videos on the Mac - I just need to get them up somewhere. I'm heading to your channel now!!! :-)

  • Check out my channel dude - I uploaded Toast and Hobby Hut to YouTube for us!! :D

  • A Swizzle Stick! A blast from the past! 1984 to 2010...26 years. How many 26 year old RC model airplanes that have been flown that much does one still see around? And one of your first RC planes. It was GREAT to see it fly! Keep flying!
