The famous Delta Queen steamboat still in the process of turning around from Wheeling Island in Wheeling, West Virginia, on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. The DQ had been in town this weekend for Wheeling's annual Sternwheeler Festival. This was shot from the Suspension Bridge, also very historically significant; it was windy, so you'll hear some wind noise in the video. I've zoomed in closer; you can see the steam coming from the calliope pipes. Around :50, they've reversed the wheel direction again to start forward.
I couldn't be there because I had to be at work. Wasn't this the DQ's last trip? I heard there are new regulations for river boats, & the DQ was being retired. How sad! We never got a chance to take a trip on the river.
