@MajikWizard2 ;Thats not Bernie Leadon. The guy with curly hair is Chris Hillman. He played bass in the original Byrds,He was in Stephen Stills Manassas and he sung lead in The Desert Rose Band, and several other groups. He has done solo work and now he tours the country singing with Herb Pedersen.
@pcwwtp Thanks, THAT's where I've heard this song. I just couldn't wuite place it but since I'm a huge True Blood fan, you reminded me of where I knew this wonderful tune from.
I caught the movie "Gram Thief Parsons" with Johnny Knoxville which was jus "so-so" but had really never heard his music. Now that I've searched and heard a lot I see that he was very talented and just a shame that he died before he was really appreciated by the masses. RIP Gram. So sad yiy left way too soon.
@conmaesta Oh yeah. There was country influenced rock dating a few years before The FBB. The Byrds did some, Buffalo Springfield did some, etc. There was also Parsons group The International Submarine Band. I just wish radio these days would give some airtime to bands like The FBB and Poco because they were both before The Eagles. And better.
@MattHatter Nope The Lovin Spoonful had a lot of good country music first and there were others like New Riders of the Purple Sage and many more....Then came TFBB and of course they were great too...But it took a lot for the lamestream media to pick up on country rock...Back in 1967 I was in a band that covered mostly Beatles and Loving Spoonfull....The kids loved us.
@bren1231001 tyvm for clarifying that for me. I guess my originial post should have had a ? at the end..lol.

Fans should search out Chris Parson's tribute version of HOT BURRITO # 1.....a matchlessly tender musical eulogy to his brother.

A real kickass tune. Nowadays, this would be too raw for the Nashville Pop scene but it sure has influenced a lot of Americana, real country, artists.
Gram Parsons, gone way too soon, but his influence is even more pronounced in death than in his life.
This tune was used to great effect in the 1st season finale episode of the excellent HBO series "True Blood."
