If you make your second fold (first fold after folding in 1/2) so that the top edge is parallel to the bottom (instead of having the point fold over to the half-way mark), it will fold fold perfectly for you, and won't have that little bit of the point overlap. Hard to explain in words, but try it & you'll see what I mean. If you fold the back flap over as well, it forms a little cup that will actually hold water & you can drink from it. (emergency cup!)
I used a piece of 3x3 note paper as I watched, and was amazed at how simple this was!
