You know I think this one of the better posts...I do not know which orch/conductor this is but I have just been listening to a version with Beecham in charge and I thought that was laboured.On the other hand I always thought the Halle could not get out to the pub quicker.Maybe it was VH I heard so long ago.It should be realy light and sprighlty, but its so, so nice. Check out Hickox & the Bournemouth, 1st of the "songs of farewell" (Chandos) for a direct intravenous injection of Delius !

It's beautiful! One of my great favourites down the years. "Nostalgic" is the word for how it affects the listener as it leads us into many memories.

I agree, it is too slow..almost laborious. It should be lighter. This feels a bit leaden. Bridget Angell

It's marvellous. But isn't it a little bit too slow? You are right! 2:24 is one of the nicest moments. But exactly in this moment it should be a little bit more fast. (I have a CD with Vernon Handley.)
