@Lo1971Lo dont be to ashamed our history is not told to us and is hard to find personally im 19 ive been searching for a full length documentary on sarah baartman (correct spelling i think) havent found 1 either cause people dont know of this history or dont care to tell it i think its both which is a damn shame luckily there are outlets like youtube which begin the story telling so furture generations of black men and women will know

Crazy Dee, Art not just entertainment or decoration. Feelings are misunderstood as a art form that is why Saartjie's poetry is important. We are being misled. Beauty can be courage. Wisdom may come from suffering. Consider how much civilized people say they care and are sorry. But when we observe actions it seems more another lie then a truth. Thankyou for your honesty. @poetryindeed We should honor her because she freed us from the bondage of Sara Bartman. Before Josephine Baker, and woman like her, the black woman was ashamed of her physique.

Some, who do not know about Josephine, still harbor low self-esteem issues about their bodies, go places like "freaknik" styled events, to get attention, but find a repeat of the "Sara Bartman" abuse.

Every young black girl should know about Josephine, and Sara, so they can stop the madness.
