After just buying a couple of avalanche beacons, a few of us went to the beach to practice for the first time... preparation for our Fernie trip at the end of January. See http://www.afterbang.co.uk/

  • Forgot to mention. You need to turn off your cell phones, ipods and radios. They give you false signals. Not sure if the instructions mention that.

Hope you had fun in fernie. You should have come down to whitefish america! We are about 1 hour away.

  • Yeah we've got probes and shovels. Fernie was excellent - we had so much snow! Does WhiteFish have a good park? Thought I heard something like that recently...

  • Thanx mate!

This is a very helpful video!

  • No probs! there's another one trying to get multiple victims... cheers

  • Travis Parker! Sick.

Man, it sounds like it's definitely worth checking out. Not sure what our plans are for next season yet, but if we're heading out your way it's gonna get some serious consideration. Cheers, Gav

  • I think you will enjoy Big Mountain (whitefish mountain resort) much better than Fernie. Don't get me wrong, I love Fernie. We just get more powder and have more terrain to choose from. We are on NFS land so you don't get arrested for going off piste. It's a lot cheaper to stay in Montana than it is in Canada. Our dollar is weak right now and will be next season. Lots of good people and pro riders on this mountain. Tanner Hall Andrew Crawford and Travis Parker are all from here.

    Cheers!

    Nick

  • Whitefish Mountain Resort has the best terrain park in the Pacific North West. There are two parts to it, Beginner and Expert. We also have the only world class super pipe in the NW. She is a beast! I turned 30 this year and after beating on my body snowboarding for 20 years, I gave myself the present of never going into the trauma park again! I still ride the super pipe but spend most my time off piste and inbound powder lines.

  • That flux line will always screw with you! Try working on your search pattern a little bit. Do you guys have probes and shovels?

    Peace!

  • yep, you wear it to find your buddy. you always travel in groups off piste. it's nice that it can save you but the real reason is to save others. it transmits a 457Khz tone that is universal and pushes past heavy snow.

  • yeah mate, it's for avalanche safety - helps you get found just in case you end up burried.
