    After my estranged father died, my siblings and I reunited in our old family home on Plunt Street in Poughkeepsie, NY to go through his personal effects. My dad was a military man turned bitter artist who had never shown much affection toward me. But in a box marked 'Jacob' I found a beautiful charcoal drawing of me in my father's arms with the words "my dearest son" at the bottom. I crumpled and startedļ»æ sobbing uncontrollably on the spot. That was my favorite sketch of all time... until today.
