  • Thats a pump for running a steam operated drill someone was probably going to start a big mine or something seen one in another mining yard it works like a motor, water compression heats up to make steam or very high pressure to make another hammer work like a jackhammer that steel with the star tip is a BIT for drilling holes for Dynamite .

  • @MrMrtiki

    Thanks mr mr.

  • interesting find at the end-it looks like a double piston pump-i think you might be right about its purpose

  • The interesting thing is this pump is about 200 feet up a cliff from the rivers current level. Maybe this was closer to the level of the river before they installed the hydro-electric damn? I'll have to do some research.

  • @exanchorite did you ever find out what it was?

    Hey Gary,

I am pretty sure it is a hydraulic ram of sorts. It was about 200 feet above the gold producing river so I knew they were not using that water source for a gravity feed, but when I looked on google earth topo maps I found a lake that was about 50 feet above the pump about half a mile away. On the same map I found a clear cut of sorts that I'm almost positive was the feed for the pump.

  • Did they use the water to move material in the river below or power a drill, or did they use the mechanical force of the water for something else like electricity? Maybe they used the water in a spray bar grizzly? The bottom was open and the top had a small pipe leading out of it which is consistant with a ram pump. Normally ram pumps are used to pump water to higher elevation, but with high pressure lots of ideas come to mind. I live in AK now so can't relly research more. Sultan RIver WA

  • dude, i love this fuckin song! makes me want to get my sluice and head up yonder!!!

  • Nice job! the thing at the end was put there by aliens.

  • TY... Gotta love seeing bedrock going right into the river. My buddy said you told him your not alowed to dredge in BC. Too bad, that's a real bummer.

  • Thanks for the comment Eaks. If I run the nozzle long inside my main tube I limit the length that my inner suction rod can move it reduces the amount of material I can pick up. I lose maybe 10% when I transfer my material to my pan, and that is acceptable since my next pull will get that 10% and then some. I do like your idea for a nugget sniping situation where your material is super high grade and you can't risk losing any. I found a couple flakes last week by sucking behind a big boulder.
