It strikes me as odd how many people say they love a song and then have no idea what the lyrics say or what the song is about.

If you read the lyrics to this song, it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with drugs.

Sounds like a politician/government to me.

@alongdriver actually, Nigel Preston, the band's original drummer, died of a heroin overdose in 1992. this song came out a couple years befote that, maybe it was written for/about him!?

"Horse" is a common slang term for Heroin, but anyone following The Cult would know that from the beginning they have had an affinity for Native Americans. I doubt either Ian or Billy have much to do with Heroin. Many band members do/did, such as Layne Staley (R.I.P.) but not these guys. Do some homework peeps and you will find out more about The Cult and enjoy some incredible music.
