Flamenchica Mundi, a flamenco fairy tale of 1001 nights, is a theatrical production for both children and adults. It is a colorful mix of Arabic and flamenco dance and music, in which the story is told of Flamenchica Mundi and her two friends, Lola and Rosa.
Flamenchica is a ten-year-old girl who loves dancing. But she has no dancing shoes. While asleep, the painting on the wall with Arabic and flamenco dancers comes to live. When she wakes up, Flamenchica mysteriously finds a pair of dancing shoes next to her. All of a sudden she dances the stars from the sky. How will her friends react?
Flamenchica Mundi means "flamenco girl of the world", in other words: "the cosmopolitan flamenco girl". For although Spain, and Andalusia in particular, is the home of flamenco, all the same this art form has a universal attraction. Today, flamenco is as popular in Amsterdam, Tokyo and New York as it is in Sevilla. In Flamenchica Mundi a bridge is erected between the ancient mediaeval culture and the cosmopolitan, mondial culture of today. At a whirling pace and with great variation Spanish and Arabic dancers bring to live theatrical dance and music, expressing poetry, grief, happiness and passion. The audience will be transported on a dream journey into the realm of 1001 nights, learning to know the wealth of flamenco tradition and its eastern origin.
