To me, oil pastels are only difficult to work with in that the available color ranges are significantly smaller than soft pastel ranges (100-125 colors in oil pastels vs. 200-500 color ranges for soft pastels) and there are far fewer artist-quality oil pastel brands available (Sennelier, Holbein, Caran D'Ache, and Cray-Pas Specialist) than soft pastel brands.
I don't think oil pastel is hard to work with. The only complain I have is yellow color. Its tinting strength is so under power that makes me frustrated.
sweet!!!...hey man that is great and i use every kind pastel and i found that certain pastels have there own advantages but also disadvantages and i agree that oil pastels are hard to work with...so yah ah...keep making more beautiful artwork!
Hello Robert, Very nice work. I like the Soft pastel but I like to use the oil. I did try but it seems harder to use. Anyway, I do mostly oil paint and and sculping. Nice work I like this peace very much! A little passcio there :) you Sell your work?
reminds me of some of wassily kandinsky's work. love the bold colours and confident marks. im studying A level art and love seeing other artists work. hope ur pleased with the final product. good job.
What a great idea, Katy! I'm going to ask him if he ever did any more work on it and do a follow up vid. Thanks! (My dad never checks out his channel. He is very afraid of the internets!!)

I have these brand new pastel chalks, lying up high, somewhere in my closet. If the kids catch wind of them, it would be way too wickedly messy!
