MOVIE
Miloš Forman: Amadeus (1984)

MUSIC
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Requiem (1791)
Lacrimosa

LYRICS
Lacrimosa dies illa
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus:
Pie Jesu Domine,
Dona eis requiem. Amen.

Tearful that day,
on which will rise from ashes
guilty man for judgment.
So have mercy, O Lord, on this man.
Compassionate Lord Jesus,
grant them rest. Amen.

  • amazing movie--this scene is so sad, yet so perfect in demonstrating the tragedy that comes with 'life', even for that of a genius whose gift was godly...this world is a tragedy for those that feel...and Mozart did indeed feel--all you have to do is listen...

  • this movie is amazing and this is one of the saddest scenes i ever saw.i cried watching this scene! :'(

  • Lacrimosa is in my opinion the best requiem song ever created

  • Always loved Salieri in this movie.

  • Does anyone else have the DVD version where you have to flip the disc over for the second half of the movie, then the surround sound doesn't work? Is the BlueRay version the same?

  • Lacrimosa : Best part of Mozart's Requiem for the movie's best scene.

  • @mbd2k8 It's the Lacrimosa, from the Requiem Mass. One of the most famous pieces of music in history.

  • The passing of a great man.....God why did you take him already!

  • @pauliegar It was standard practice in those days for commoners to be buried in unmarked graves such as this, unless they were very wealthy (which Mozart wasn't, due to his excessive lifestyle). It doesn't matter, we still remember him through his music.

  • The wife should have sold half of the possessions for at least a decent grave for Mozart...

  • One of the greatest historical films ever produced, and one of the greatest songs on film. It's hard to find his choral works.

  • I fell in love with this movie only after watching it once. I believe this is my favorite part throughout the movie only because of how much depth and emotion there was in this scene. The sorrow that gripped me and made me almost cry in class when watching this left me breathless. This scene was truly amazing and the song being in the background was a perfect touch.
