I work in the Hump Yard in East St Louis, Alton and Southern Railroad. We have one Hump with 66 bowl tracks its the biggest in our area. This is Huge compared to ours! and its one of two holy crap. I love shoving up the 40 foot limestone cars up our hump. At night they rev to notch 8 and sometimes sparks and fire shoot from the exhaust! its quite a site!

Further to my post below I just discovered a bit of old movie footage showing the hump at the old Feltham Yard. If you're interested go to 8:51 at - watch?v=7O8LJmCDukA - I gather a few accidents occured amongst shunters during it's working life and you can see why. These men had to be on the ball.

There used to be a hump yard at Feltham, near Heathrow {U.K}. It opened in 1923 and closed in 1969. I don't think there are any working hump yards left in the U.K. There is talk about using the land of the old hump yard at Feltham for a new train depot...But there's lots of local resident objections.
