It's all the people. There's not "one sort of people". That's dangerously close to Weimar Republic populism.

Americans borrowed, the politicians changed the rules, and the industry liked it because they were making money. And yes, the automotive industry was part of it as they started selling cars on credit, and they have been going down even before the bubble burst.

This bubble, is big, it is huge, it is three bubbles on top of each other, finance, IT and construction/finance.

Salaries need to be set in a free market, otherwise other companies, without these stupid unions, will just come in and compete and drive the company out of business. It is happening everywhere.

The car industry in China is still profitable. They didn't built their entire economy on phony credit. It is not "speculation in credit" it is because spoiled consumers wanted to buy things they could not afford, so the politicians changed the rules so they could.

Consumption doesn't drive the economy. That's keyneism, keyneism is what you've had the past eight years. It doesn't work. Purchasing power comes from production, not salary.

I worked 12 years for Ford. Long tedious hours. Any one just simply cannot do these jobs. Economics? Why yes Austrian. It's the economic people who ruined this country and not the automotive.

Building good cars that capture the imagination should not be such a problem. i think these geniuses at GM and Ford have been happily asleep at the switch for way too long. So has the whole country when it goes and buys hummers because Arnold says so.
