This popular rag by Charles L. Johnson dates from 1913. Here, Adam Swanson (left) and Tom Brier play it during the party following the 2009 West Coast Ragtime Festival.

I had a kazoo in my mouth and couldn't help but squeak out a few notes near the end, though I knew it might be overpowering on the camera.

The laughter during the piece is because Adam begins playing another Johnson hit, "Dill Pickles", on top of it.

You can download the sheet music for this rag here:

  • Shameless plug: I have an mp3 of my own rendition of this tune, which is very different (yet, I like to think, as hot) which you can buy on my NoisyPlanet website. Go check it out! I also have other mp3s for sale too.

If and when you buy one of my mp3s, PLEASE send me a message here on Youtube. The website is new and I'm not sure if it's fully functional yet. I would like your feedback!

  • Terrific rendition! This is hot ragtime, played hot, the way it should be! (I'm not saying ALL ragtime should be played hot, only the tunes that deserve it).

  • Nice!

  • Great!

  • OMg if would be great if he would be mine piano teacher
