  • when i was in school, my speech teacher said "three 'umms' and you're out!"

  • OMG you guys! I had no idea! Normally I don't do that; watch my other clips and see. But I hear you loud and clear, I'll be sure to reign in the "umms & errrs". Jeesh.

  • Roosevelt Hospital does not have the only birthing center in NY. There is the Brooklyn Birthing Center and the Morritz Heights Birthing Center in the Bronx which are both freestanding birthing centers. Bellevue hospital also has an in hospital birthing center like Roosevelt Hospital.

  • Yes! I meant to clarify: Manhattan and that would have been correct - but it's helpful to include the boroughs as they certainly count too. I'm thinking that one of those that you mention closed recently, no?

  • try not to say um. its becoming redundant and makes viewers focus more on poor speaking than the focus of your video, which is great and should have all attention

  • Yeah, yeah...um, you try talking unscripted for half an hour straight. har.

  • This film is great. I'd highly recommend it. Check out the trailer, esp. the scene where they ask the ob residents how many totally natural births they've seen. Stunned silence for about 10 seconds before the titter while they admit "almost none."

It's not funny. The dirty secret in childbirth: pain provides important hormones for the baby. Numbing the mom is worse for the baby. (Not knocking those who need it; just don't misrepresent it as always perfectly safe; it isn't.)

  • hehehe There are a lot of Umms! It's almost just seems like you are thinking about so many things, that your head will just blow up! =)

But what you are saying totally makes sense. Thanks for this video

  • UMMMMMM lrn2public speaking

  • So many ummms that I can't watch anymore!

  • That is a very weak argument showing you know nothing about the history of birthing.

  • lol she says um alot

  • gailabner: she actually thought the documentary was great. If you listened you'd know.

  • yeah it might be a good idea to write out some of what you plan to say before you actually start...

I think there was maybe 5 minutes of actual review in this 9 mins of video when you take out all the "umms" and run-on sentences where you don't really say much at all, lol.

  • please know what you are going to say before you speak....

you most defiantly say "ummm" too much.

  • She has a beautiful smile. =) And even though she pauses a lot with the "umms" she is still giving a great review in my opinion.

  • lol. I was just about to comment about the uuuuhmmmmmsss and uuuuhhhs here and only to find others complaining about it too...

If we were to edit out the uuuhhmmsss and uuuhhhhs then this video will be only half it's length...

I really cannot watch this whole video...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many uuuhm and uuhhss... Goooooooooooooooooooooooooosh!!!!!!!!
