Colleen Evans with students from Carver Elementary demonstrate this activity, which allows students to create hopscotch patterns.

Part 1 gives basic classroom management directions. It is recommended that parts 1 and 2 are done on different days. Note that the only visible group is the students who had the permission forms completed, another 20 students are participating off camera.

Grade Level: 3-8

Requires: Poly spots and squares (8-10 per group)

Addresses Physical Education Standard 1: "Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities."

This video is shared as part of the Active Schools Initiative, which provides strategies to teachers and students for motivating students to be physically active outside of their physical education classes. http://dpi.wi.gov/sspw/physicaled.html

Video produced in 2010-11 by Milwaukee Public Schools with support from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Thanks to Colleen Evans, Carver Elementary, and the students!
